Author Ernest O. Izedonmwen's New Book 'A Walk in the Rain' is a Riveting Tale of Personal Choices and Their Effect on the American Dream of an Aspiring Immigrant

Recent release 'A Walk in the Rain' from Page Publishing author Ernest O. Izedonmwen is a stirring work of realistic fiction introducing Osaru, a young Nigerian accountant who overstays his tourist visa to the US in the hopes of establishing a career and achieving personal and financial success. Despite a beloved fiancée waiting for him back home, he makes a series of decisions based on his immediate desire to remain in the United States and suffers a series of consequences with lasting effects.

Ernest O. Izedonmwen is an attorney working and teaching in Dallas, Texas, where he lives with his wife and four children and enjoys traveling. He has completed his new book “A Walk in the Rain”: a compelling novel that brings the initial culture shock, experiences, and difficult choices of an immigrant in America to life.

Ernest writes, “Osaru received a tourist visa to visit the United States from Nigeria. A grateful and excited Osaru had no intention of returning to his country at the expiration of his tourist visa. With high hopes and expectations, he arrived in America to a plethora of unexpected challenges.

He fell in love with a remarkably intelligent and challenging woman, a love made more complicated by his obligation to his Nigerian fiancée, Ese. His fidelity to Ese is tested early by the reality of life in the US as an undocumented alien. Marriage to his American girlfriend promised immediate benefits and reliefs, including decent employment, but he is torn and tortured by his obligation to his faithful fiancée. With unemployment squarely at his doorstep, he opted for the easy and immediate benefits of marriage to his American girlfriend.

Osaru's marriage to his American wife ensured a wonderful life for a while, until it falls apart due to his infidelity and unwitting participation in drug distribution.”

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Ernest O. Izedonmwen’s engrossing book is a poignant narrative offering important lessons in accountability and a fascinating view of American society from an immigrant’s perspective.
