Kathryn Starring's Book "Parabola: The Afghan Connection" Is The Story Of One Woman's Strength And Desire To Succeed In Her Attempt To Save The Family Of A Friend

New book "Parabola: The Afghan Connection" from Page Publishing author Kathryn Starring is both educational and emotional; this work describes the Afghan culture under Soviet invasion through one family being extracted for their safety.

Kathryn Starring, a teacher, traveler, writer and author, has completed her first book “Parabola: The Afghan Connection”: a gripping and intense journey into the powerful story of freedom, justice and equality.

“In the mid 1980’s, I made the acquaintance of a woman who would forever change my life. She was one of the fortunate Afghan women who had had not only the luxury of a university education in France when young, but she had also walked out of Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion of her city, Kabul. She and her family had suffered egregiously. While in the safety and security of Paris, which had always been my private think tank, I began to learn the surprising story of her survival and her concern for the rest of her family remaining in Afghanistan. For the first time I realized that Afghanistan was more than the orange area on the map in my classroom. This woman who was one of my professors, had touched my heart and we became friends. She laboriously made tapes for me about her city of Kabul, the Afghan life and traditions, language and the arts. I vowed to write a book about all that I was learning. Hence, I turned the book into a political thriller. Though it is a novel, the places and times are real,” said author Kathryn Starring while describing the cause and background to writing her new book.

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Kathryn Starring’s poignant tale is an efficacious work of fiction that delves into the emotions and injustices of the Afghan people.

There are no words that can capture the atrocities of man’s inhumanity to man. Parabola is a powerful story of one woman’s quest for justice. It speaks to the inner strength and courage she found to overcome conditions few people are ever forced to endure. It is a tale of how she survived the Soviet Union’s attempt to destroy the Afghan culture, to annihilate the Afghan people, and to overthrow the government of Afghanistan.

Readers who wish to experience this gripping work can purchase “Parabola: The Afghan Connection” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
